Description

Berberine is an alkaloid found naturally in various medicinal plants, including the roots of Berberis vulgaris (barberry). It has long been used therapeutically, and much research has focused on its effectiveness in managing blood glucose, blood lipids and insulin sensitivity.

Berberine's activity begins during digestion, when it inhibits some of the enzymes responsible for breaking down carbohydrates and starches in the digestive tract. It thus helps reduce the amount of glucose absorbed into the bloodstream.

Berberine promotes insulin sensitivity and increases the activity and number of insulin receptors available to remove glucose from the bloodstream.

Directions for use

Recommended adult dose: 1 capsule 2 times daily with meals or as directed by a health-care practitioner. Consult a health care practitioner for use beyond 3 months.

Each vegetarian capsule contains :

Berberine (hydrochloride) (Berberis vulgaris) (root bark) :500 mg

Non-medicinal ingredients: Vegetable capsule (carbohydrate gum, purified water), microcrystalline cellulose, vegetable-grade magnesium stearate (lubricant), silica, stearic acid.

This product contains no preservatives, artificial colors or sweeteners; no dairy, starch, sugar, wheat, gluten, yeast, soy, corn, eggs, fish, shellfish, animal products, salt, nuts or GMOs.

Warnings

Consult a health care practitioner if you suffer from leukopenia, kidney disorders, hypotension or blood pressure problems.
