Rich in borneol and carvacrol, it is an antiseptic, expectorant, anti-infectious, antiviral, immune stimulant, antiparasitic, fungicide, liver function stimulant, digestive, nerve balancer and tonic.

Its fragrance combines an earthy scent with a very floral note.

Properties:

Thyme essential oil has long been recognized for its healing properties.

It is reputed to be very useful in cases of physical, mental or sexual asthenia, as well as cystitis.

The Borneol Satureiode chemotype is very powerful and is particularly interesting for massages in cases of rheumatic and arthritic pain.

It has the advantage of being gentler on the skin and mucous membranes, making it easier to use than thymol thyme.

Thyme is also known as borneol thyme, savory thyme or carvacrol borneol thyme.

It is a sub-shrub used in cooking and as a medicinal plant, and is native to North Africa.

The Thymus genus comprises some 300 species.

The ancient Greeks used thyme as incense in their temples.

A thyme-based potion was said to give courage and bravery in battle (Thumos means courage in Greek).

The name may also derive from the Egyptian tham, the name of a plant used to embalm corpses, or from the Greek root thy, meaning "to exhale an odor".

Pliny already recommended it as an anti-infective.

In the Middle Ages, it was used in the composition of a number of potions designed to make people see fairies, and to cure torticollis.
