Cattier Surfine White Clay, extracted in southern England, has been rigorously selected for its incomparable quality. It is traditionally used in masks and poultices. It is processed mechanically (crushing, grinding) and thermally (drying in the sun or in an oven, autoclave, etc.). It undergoes no chemical treatment, and each batch of clay is rigorously inspected for color, appearance, granulometry, microbiota, etc.
Clay is a soil derived from the metamorphosis of a rock, naturally rich in mineral salts. It is found in deposits of varying size, most of which are mined by open-cast methods. A true living substance with a natural intelligence, clay is distinguished by its absorption and adsorption properties, enabling it to exchange absorbed impurities and toxins for minerals.
Preparing the clay paste: Pour the desired quantity of white clay into a glass or wooden container. Add a volume of spring water to fully immerse the clay. Leave to stand for half an hour or so, then stir with a non-metallic spatula to obtain a smooth paste.
As a beauty mask: apply a thick layer to the face and neck, avoiding the eye and lip contours, or to the scalp. Leave on for approximately 10 minutes, without letting the mask dry. Rinse with lukewarm water and dry.
As a hair mask: Apply a thick layer to the hair roots. Leave on for approximately 10 minutes without letting the mask dry. Rinse with warm water and shampoo. Ideal for oily hair.
As a cataplasm: Place the paste on a natural textile. Spread the clay with a non-metallic spatula to a thickness of 1 cm. Lay the poultice, leaving the clay in direct contact with the skin, and hold it in place (but not too tightly) with a bandage. Leave the poultice on for one hour. To remove, remove as much clay as possible, if necessary by moistening, then rinse the skin and dry.
In clay water (e.g. face lotion): Pour one to two teaspoons of white clay into a glass and add spring water. Mix with a non-metallic spatula. Wait for the clay to settle back to the bottom and use only the clay water.
